01

The evolution, explained.

What it is.

Hybrid OSB is Strandply's next-generation engineered board — the flagship of the range, positioned deliberately above conventional OSB. It takes the structural intelligence of oriented strands as its foundation, and refines the panel around one question: what does premium furniture actually demand of its material?

How it fits modern manufacturing.

Furniture today is made by machines that assume consistency — CNC routers, edge banders, press lines, finish systems. Hybrid OSB is conceived for exactly that world: a panel whose flatness, dimensional stability and machining behaviour let production lines run at full confidence.

Why it is the premium choice.

Because in premium furniture, the surface is the product — and the surface is only ever as good as the board beneath it. Hybrid OSB is developed for surface quality and premium finishing compatibility first, with the strength of strand engineering underneath.

How it elevates engineered boards.

Conventional OSB proved that engineered wood could out-build the tree. Hybrid OSB's ambition is the next step: that engineered wood can out-finish it — precision, stability and refinement in one panel.

Construction, specification and test results are published below, taken from the OSB Hybrid Ply catalogue.

02

Where the flagship belongs.

  • Luxury furniturethe material beneath pieces that carry a designer's name.
  • Premium kitchensthe room where materials are tested twice a day, for decades.
  • Retail displaysprecision that survives bright light and close attention.
  • Hospitality furniturea thousand rooms, one standard.
  • Executive officesquiet materials for considered spaces.
  • High-end residentialinteriors built to be lived in, and left to the next generation.
  • Commercial interiorsperformance at scale, refinement at eye level.
  • Custom millworkwhen the drawing is ambitious and the material must simply say yes.

Movement One

Crafted for Precision.

Precision is not a promise added at the end; it is the way a board is conceived. Hybrid OSB is developed around exact faces, held dimensions and predictable behaviour — so that what leaves the drawing arrives in the room unchanged.

Movement Two

Designed for Modern Manufacturing.

The modern workshop is a calibrated machine, and it deserves a calibrated material. Hybrid OSB is made for CNC precision, clean machining and reliable finishing lines — a panel that keeps pace with automation instead of apologising to it.

Movement Three

Built for Designers.

Designers do not specify boards; they specify certainty. Certainty that the surface will take the finish. That the panel will hold its line. That the hundredth unit will match the first. Hybrid OSB is built to be that certainty.

Movement Four

Made for Furniture Excellence.

Furniture excellence is decided in millimetres and years — the millimetres of a flush edge, the years of a door closing true. Hybrid OSB exists for both measures at once.

Movement Five

The Future of Engineered Boards.

Every generation of engineered wood has replaced something: solid timber, then plywood, then ordinary panels. The next replacement is quieter — ordinary expectations. That is the future Hybrid OSB is built for.

06

The Construction

Seven layers, in order.

Veneer faces outside, veneer cores beneath them, and a cross-laid centre between two longitudinal layers. The board is built symmetrically about that middle so it has no weak direction.
