01

What It Is

Strands, oriented. Surfaces, calibrated.

Oriented Strand Board is an economical, versatile and internationally recognised board made from eucalyptus wood logs.

Flat chips are laid in three layers and pressed under high temperature with synthetic resins as the binder. In the outer layers the chips run along the long edge of the slab; in the inner layer, along the transverse edge. That crossing is where the strength comes from.

What makes S-OSB different is the S. Both faces are calibrated smooth — precision-ground flat and held to ±0.3 mm — turning a structural board into a furniture material.

Outer layers run long. The core runs across.

One Board

One board. Many faces.

The same calibrated core accepts a different face depending on where the panel is going.

05

The Board

Eight facts, quietly stated.

01

All glue line

Adhesive through every layer, not only at the bond lines.

02

Fifty micro strands

More than fifty layers of micro strands, arranged to a set pattern.

03

High density

700 to 750 kg/m³ through the section.

04

Termite resistance

Eucalyptus is naturally repellent to termites, which avoids chemical treatment.

05

Strength to weight

Structural performance without the mass of a solid section.

06

ISPM 15 approved

Cleared for international shipment as packaging material.

07

Screw holding

Holds hardware where thin-veneer boards give way.

08

No bending, no warping

The board stays where it was set.

On the bench

Cut and machine

The same tools as conventional carpentry. No change of process, no change of hand.

Screw and nail

Holds fixings directly, without a backing block.

Laminate and veneer

Takes laminate and veneer directly. The brochure states finishing is not hampered after lamination, and that a face veneer is not required.

Paint and polish

Paint or polish can be applied directly to the board.

06

The Timber

Grown fast. Used fully.

S-OSB is made from small-diameter eucalyptus, three to five years old.

Plywood needs timber of at least ten to twelve years. Buying at three to five turns a farmer's inventory twice as fast, and takes the pressure off mature forest.

Eucalyptus is naturally repellent to termites, so the board does not need the chemical treatment that other panels rely on.
